There are several restaurants in town in Shaver Lake, but these are our personal favorites. The service is absolutely awesome at these restaurants. They just don’t compare. We usually eat out for lunch or breakfast and then have dinner at home.
The Hungry Hut has the best burgers, veggie burgers, shakes, & fries. Don’t leave without trying a shake. Yum!
Shaver Coffee & Deli has the best coffee, Monkey bread, breakfast sandwiches, & burgers, veggie burgers, & fries for lunch too. My husband just loved the monkey bread!
Shaver Lake Pizza has delicious pizzas.
Don’t forget to bring a S’mores kit, skewers, and your own lighter for your cabin with a wood burning stove. Guests often take lighters or lose them, so be sure to bring your own.

You can rent a home in the Sierra Cedars community in Shaver Lake with a private, community pond. This home includes the canoe in the photo that you can easily carry over to the pond just a short walk away. The pond is surrounded with pine and sequoia trees. What to Do in Shaver Lake in Summer #2
Grab your hiking shoes and just a short 30-minute drive from Shaver Lake is McKinley Grove Giant Sequoias with 1000 year old Sequoia trees that just tower over you in height and have massive trunks wider than a car. This collection of Seqouias is on its own and not a part of Sequoia National Park. It’s a lovely way to experience these impressive trees without a crowd. You just park in a roundabout on the side of road and walk along dirt pathways. There’s some trunks that have fallen and you can climb on them. It was such a blast and so impressive to see with our young boys.

The amount of snow at about 5000 feet, which is where the main part of the Shaver Lake town is located, is overwhelming. It’s beautiful, but you don’t want to get stuck in it, so be sure to bring tire chains for your vehicle. Our family members forgot theirs and phew.. it was a story to remember!
Besides the well-known China Peak Ski Resort in Shaver Lake, be sure to bring a sled and snow toys to stop at Shaver Lake Sno Parks:

This is a top things to do shaver lake. You need to grab a parking pass for $5 from Ken’s Market or Tollhouse Market in town. These parks are set up for sledding, snow play, and snow-mobiling.
Do not assume your cabin will provide a sled. They break easily, so in the busy winter season, it’s great to bring your own on your sled on your trip.
Bring snow clothes for you and your littles ones. Bring winter coats, snow boots, and snow gloves to ensure comfort while playing in the snow.
