Calm Amid the Chaos

Hey, fellow police wife, if you’re feeling like you’re ready to say “goodbye” to:

You are giving from an empty cup. You get headaches a lot and want to play with your kids, but you’re always tired. You are doing everything for everyone else and feeling burnt out. You aren’t taking care of yourself. You know this and you even add additional stress to yourself and feel guilty about not taking care of yourself.

You don’t have anyone to tag and tap out. You feel like you’re doing it all alone, because you are. You aren’t asking for help or delegating any responsibilities to anyone else.

You’re carrying the entire load with no breaks. From sunup to sundown to the middle of the night, you are doing each routine and night shift at home alone.

You can’t sleep, because you’re worrying about him or just generally missing him next to you. Even when you have a moment to rest, your mind wanders to the worst. You miss his presence next you.

And say “hello” to:

Doing things that fill up your cup every single day no matter what shift your officer has, if he gets unexpected overtime or court.

Being supported in your daily routines and tasks by empowering your team to help. Yes, you have a team. Your toddlers, preschoolers and school-age kids can help you out more than you think. You can make small changes to the design of your home to empower them to help.

Systems in place in your home so that everyone gets what they need. You’re thriving.

You sleep well and wake up rested and ready to play with your children forgetting to grab a cup of coffee.
